The churches are empty, the streets are desolate and the beaches are completely quiet. After decades of Communist oppression and atheistic philosophy, Latvia is now open to the gospel. The effects of communism still linger. We have an opportunity to ship by sea, two block party trailers to church planters, Marcis & Agnesa in Latvia. The trailers will allow them to provide a festive outreach to the community. There is very little available for people to do, so this will be a great attraction to families in Latvia. It will give Marcis & Agnesa a unique opportunity to share the gospel. The doors are open now for the gospel, but we do not know for how long. Please prayerfully consider a gift to take the good news to the people of Latvia.

You can help feed a needy family for just dollars a day. Carmen and her husband, a migrant worker, attempt to provide the best for their two daughters. In summer 2010, Carmen’s family lived at the Madera Migrant Center and received groceries as part of the “Feeding Those Who Feed Us” migrant ministry. Because of the mild summer and slow growing season, Carmen noted there had been “little work, so the food helps me so much.” Each of the families received a bag of grocery staples (rice, beans, flour, sugar, and mazeca) which should provide a family of five a meal a day for a week. For less than $3 a day you can provide for families that pick the fruits and vegetables you eat, but may not have food themselves. By doing so, you will provide physical and spiritual food by introducing Jesus, the Bread of Life.

Does it seem impossible to reach this Pop Culture with the good news of Jesus? Church Planting Strategist, Josh Smith sees beyond the Hollywood culture. He sees the people that are lost without hope in the middle of a very dark world. God has given him a vision for a new church plant in the middle of Hollywood that will make a difference in this anti-Christian culture. Josh is just beginning this church plant, looking for the right location and talking to the people he wants to reach. You can make a difference in a dark world by helping Josh begin this new work.

California has six of the 50 largest cities in the United States with a total population of 37.3 million. Nationally there is one Southern Baptist church for about every 7,000 people, but California has only one Southern Baptist church for every 17,000 residents. Millions in California do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. A few years ago, pastor Dewayne Birdsong believed God called him to plant a church in the San Francisco Bay area. He gathered his friends and began a weekly Bible study group in his home. The group quickly grew as he shared his vision of making an impact on the community. Now more than 50 people attend Restoration Baptist Church. Did you know there are men being called to plant churches in specific areas in California? You can help a young pastor like Dewayne plant a new church and impact California for Christ through church planting.

Many Christians have had life changing experiences at camp. But what if you can't get to camp? Your gifts are needed to help complete the paving of the road that provides the entrance to Jenness Park Christian Camp. How do you build a road? One yard at a time. The cost to pave the road is $150 per yard. Without a better road, it will be extremely difficult to serve campers during the winter months. Already, two bus companies will no longer provide transportation to Jenness Park due to the road conditions. Last year more than 300 made decisions to follow Jesus at Jenness Park. We are changing lives, one camper at a time. Help us meet this urgent need, one yard at a time.

We have a big job in California to minister to Chinese people and to provide materials in their language. There is an urgent need for educational materials to be translated for CSBC pastors to use in their churches. “Great Commission Budgeting” and “Building a Church Budget” are materials that will educate our Chinese pastors and leaders enabling them to reach their communities for Christ. Leaders in our state prayed for a miracle and it happened. We were able to purchase the medical/dental mobile units for far less then market value. Now our units are truly vehicles that meet the physical and spiritual needs in communities throughout California. These mobile units provide physical care for many migrant centers and in poor communities. During a disaster the mobile units are ready to provide care to those in crisis. The units are also available to provide care at community outreach projects. In 2011, Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast causing severe damage and flooding. Thousands of victims were forced into temporary shelters and many died. Families struggled to rebuild their lives.
